Kate Garraway shows her Support for The Blue Sky Social Care Card!

What an amazing Carers Week we’ve had! And we’d like to thank you all for celebrating with us!

The highlight of our week has to be the announcement that TV presenter Kate Garraway has shown her support for The Blue Sky Social Care Card.

In a live video message – which we shared on our social media channels, she said receiving her Blue Sky Social Care Card felt like ‘a real badge of honour’.

She said: “When I received my Blue Sky Social Care Card, it was a real moment actually because it’s the first time I’d seen in print my name as a carer.”

It was wonderful news when Kate revealed that she wanted to support our Blue Sky Social Care Card and give it the recognition it so truly deserves. Despite juggling family life with her TV and radio work, she wants to get behind the tremendous work we do.

She said: “The more people know about the Blue Sky Social Care Card the more people will sign up to it. Then it will become bigger and bigger. It is such a great initiative – anybody that’s a carer should know about it.”

We’re delighted and honoured that Kate chose us – and we’d like to publicly thank her.

But that isn’t all that happened during Carers Week, which ran from June 10-16.

Isaac Harvey, MBE and award-winning video creator and editor and all-round adrenalin junkie, took to our platform to give a shout out to his amazing sister, Rachel.

Despite being incredibly busy loving life, Isaac told us how she consistently goes above and beyond to support others.

He said: “Living with a disability means I rely heavily on the support of others for everyday tasks, from personal care to simply enjoying a meal out.

Isaac, who received an MBE from King Charles for services to people with disabilities, said he wanted to celebrate Carers Week by giving his sister The Blue Sky Social Care Card – our wonderful initiative that offers well-deserved perks and discounts to those in the social care sector.

He said it was a small token of appreciation for the immense role Rachel plays in his life.

Isaac said: “I hope more businesses will recognise and support this valuable card.”

So, what else happened during Carers Week?

Self-employed carer and founder of Professional Carers Network, Maria Tomlinson, also helped us to highlight our Blue Sky Social Care Card. She’s good like that and we very much appreciate her support.

She works closely with other self-employed carers to help them not feel overwhelmed – or overlooked, so it’s always fantastic when she gives us a shout out and champions what we do.

Thanks Maria!

Professional Carers Network Founder champions us for #CarersWeek

This year’s theme is Putting Carers on the Map and focuses on the invaluable contributions of carers across the UK.

Your voices deserve to be heard – loud and clear.

Let’s increase the visibility of carers among politicians, employers and throughout our communities. Let’s highlight The Blue Sky Social Care Card and recognise the challenges carers face and help them access the support they so desperately deserve.

Together, we can make a difference… It is our duty to make a difference to the lives of those who give so much of themselves to others. Afterall, you deserve it.
